Put down your preconceived ideas and arrive open… Be prepared for change!.”

I am available to run anything from a basic introduction to the 5Rhythms®, to deeper, process-orientated sessions. Please get in touch if you are interested in organising an evening, day, weekend, or longer group or retreat.

More than dance

With the proliferation of conscious clubbing and similar recreational dance spaces, there are many opportunities for free dance and relatively few invitations to dance deeper. My choice is therefore to teach at depth even in a 2-hour class if a group is relatively experienced.

This is not always what people expect from an evening of 5Rhythms®, however it is consistent with the training I received from Gabrielle, where she memorably quipped, “You didn’t think this was about dancing did you?” She described 5Rhythms® as a laboratory for experimenting with real-life dynamics and energies.

We can all benefit from opportunities to bring more of ourselves into energetic circulation and my intention when I teach is to serve that intention.

Themes

I love to take inspiration from the natural world, and develop themes in response to specific groups. Themes that I enjoy working with include: levels of relationship, awareness of habitual patterns, embodied choice and knowing, experiencing unity, and cultivating presence. I regularly draw on Open Floor and somatic and trauma-informed theory and practice.

Workshops

In the last few years I have developed three themes in my closed groups that are suited to a longer workshop format:

An exploration of creativity over the course of a single day up to several weeks or months. Using 5Rhythms® as a shortcut to creative flow, Echoes and Visions offers time to explore different modes of creativity with a playful, child-like, focus on process rather than product.

Shadow Dancing

I have combined Gabrielle’s shadow map of the 5Rhythms® with the principles of the Window of Tolerance (Stephen Porges, Dan Siegel, Deb Dana). The result is a physical framework for exploring one’s unique shadow patterns, understanding how they connect, and strengthening under-developed areas.

This workshop uses the map of the 5Rhythms® to develop our connection to self, other, group, the world, and spirit. Dancers are encouraged to explore which levels of relationship they feel most comfortable with and which they find more challenging. Reflecting on and embodying how this manifests in daily life, we can then experiment with ways of remaining in connection at different levels.

Your move: solo sessions

Following the completion of my PhD I now have space to offer 1-2-1 sessions. Contact me to start the conversation.
